Give something back to yourself – join me to explore your creativity.

Approaching learning from a holistic and spiritual perspective, I am introducing a series of courses aimed at nurturing and developing creativity in adults and children.

I consider myself fortunate to be able to pursue a creative life.  I do not believe that artists alone own creativity.  It is within all of us and affects our spiritual, mental and emotional development throughout life.

I want to introduce you to a new way of learning through play, and by engaging with and trusting our imagination and intuition.

I am interested in  “handology”, not the study of palm reading, but using our hands intelligently, to produce and create.

The courses are designed to develop creative expression rather than pottery skills, though participants will be learning about ceramic techniques.

Creativity with Clay

Intermediate class

9 Wednesdays starting from 18th January 2012, 19:00 – 21:30

£165

My intermediate course will start from a spiritual base, working with each individual to assess what has been previously learnt and what he or she would like to achieve.

This is course is for people who may have enjoyed pottery classes before and want to add to their experience of clay work.  You will develop a more critical and detailed approach, using your own personal resource book as a base to create.

There are many facilities to use at Biscuit Studio; wheel, spray booth, mould making equipment and slab roller. There is also a range of techniques and skills on offer, including glaze making, mould making, hand building and slip casting.

Course fees include some basic materials.  Specialist materials are available to order for an extra cost.  The costs of kiln firings are additional.

Expression in Clay

Beginner class

9 Thursdays starting from 19th January 2012, 10:30 – 13:00

£140

Using the healing properties of clay, this course is about exploring clay and its many possibilities.  We will be working with clay in a spontaneous, direct way, learning about ourselves while letting go, in order to develop our creativity.

We will be using clay as a three-dimensional sketching tool, while working with sketchbooks to record our thoughts and ideas. The course aims to free participants to produce fun, enjoyable work without pre-judgment.

The course is a beginner’s introduction to clay and no experience is necessary.

Courses include some basic materials and two firings.

Drawing & Painting from the Soul

6 Fridays starting 3rd February 2012

10.30 – 12.30

£85

I have practiced automatic writing for over 10 years. The process has been extremely supportive and has helped me to develop my intuition and to trust my life’s decisions.  Using this method as the basis of this course, we will be producing work coming from within us, and looking at what blocks us from fulfilling our creativity.  We will be keeping a visual diary so that we can discuss our week’s development in a safe and supportive environment.

Learning to play through materials

Weekend course

24th & 25th March 2012

10.30am -16.30pm

£90

“All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once (s)he grows up”.  Pablo Picasso

Using the principle of early learning methods, in particular the Reggio Emilia Approach from Italy, I intend to return to play – a child’s natural state of mind.  As we get older we somehow un-learn how to play. But play is vital to our well being and self-development.

This course encourages us to use materials in many ways, to play and explore.  Participants will be freed to unleash their creative child within.
