A reflection of my Open House and Sculpture Garden

It is just over a week now since the exhibition closed and I am missing the buzz of the visitors to my house.

The cabin is an important feature of the exhibition and it's taken from January to May to complete its transformation. We first repaired the roof and then cleared everything we had stored in it. Next, we insulated and lined the walls and installed lighting, before painting inside and out.

Mister Big Hair

June 12, 2017

I am currently working on a new body of work and, to get me going, I had a departure from my usual landscape subject matter.  I was Inspired by my nephew when he asked me to paint his portrait.  Excited about the prospect of working in a different way, I took up the challenge with glee.

I decided it would be his 9th birthday gift and presented it to him last week.  He was overwhelmed and, for once, speechless. He had one complaint - the appearance of his ear. I explained the only way to change this would entail plastic surgery.  I hope the picture will give him a lot of pleasure for years to come, unless he decides to sell it in the school playground. He has been known to trade his things to buy other things he wants - a businessman in the making.  Rest assured I’ll be checking my sister’s home regularly to see if the painting is still there.
